Help Needed
Support our GoFundMe to replace the gel imager and complete vital Research and Development testing on our PCR method.
Why we need funding support...
While working on the development of the PCR method, the camera of the gel imager that was purchased is no longer working. Without this vital piece of equipment, we are not able to image our gels. This is a critical step in being able to determine the parental linage as it is the size of the PCR bands that will tell us if the child is related to the potential parent.

FAQs
Why funds needed?
The gel imager that had been purchased, does not have a functioning camera. Therefore, we must either replace the camera or purchase a different unit that is completely functional.
What is gel imager?
It’s a device that uses UV and/or visible light to be able to visualize the DNA that is present in an agarose gel. The distance over time the DNA migrated indicates the size of the DNA product.
Why replace the camera now?
Without a working camera, we have no way to image the DNA gels and thus, can't perform the necessary tests to determine if/how our method is working.
How will funds help?
All funds raised will go to either A) replacement of the camera in the current system or B) a new, functional imager. If there is any remaining funds, it will be put towards reagents that will be used to finalize development procedures.
What if no funds?
If there are no funds, the company will not have the necessary capabilities of analyzing PCR products.
How accurate is the method?
Once finalized with the new system, it will provide highly accurate results that will be able to distinguish between different short tandem repeat alleles. The size of these bands will determine the relationship between the customer and their potential progeny.
